The Vibrant Palette of Cevisama: Exploring Trends in Spanish Ceramic Excellence

27, March -3, April 2023

Cevisama's 39th edition unfolded at Feria Valencia in Spain from February 27 to March 3, showcasing the prowess of the Spanish ceramic tile sector. As Laparet immersed itself in the event, seeking out the latest trends, the industry revealed a resilience that prevails despite challenges.

This year's edition welcomed a total of 74,115 visitors, with 18,532 attendees from abroad. While this figure marked a 19.5% decline from the pre-pandemic edition, it demonstrated considerable strength amid ongoing Covid restrictions, economic uncertainty, and a broader demand crisis.

Within the bustling halls of Cevisama, the ceramic and tile industry showcased a remarkable resilience, unveiling a plethora of new designs, finishes, and styles. Let's dive into the key trends observed at the show, poised to influence the design landscape in the kitchen and bathroom industry.

1.            XXL Tiles Take Center Stage: Large tile formats, once reserved for luxury properties, have now found their way into everyday households. Often featuring a concrete or cement look, these XXL tiles create an illusion of spaciousness, particularly in smaller bathrooms, thanks to minimal joints that contribute to a tidy and clean aesthetic.

2.            Artistry in Tradition: For those seeking an alternative to a clean look, tiles with traditional patterns or prints steal the spotlight. Digital printing processes enable limitless creativity, allowing for versatile applications on walls, floors, or as small accents. Inspired by retro tiles from the '70s and elements from antiquity, traditional patterns and floral motifs are making a strong comeback.

3.            Terrazzo with a Modern Twist: The timeless Terrazzo finish receives a contemporary makeover, embracing a more playful and colorful aesthetic. The familiar marble slab chips embedded into the tile's core material retain the original charm while introducing a modern edge.

4.            Stone-Effect Elegance: Stone-effect tiles emerge as a standout style, showcasing various designs and highlighting the surge in large-format tiles. With polished, natural, and textured finishes, these tiles introduce drama and sophistication to interior spaces.

5.            Metallic Flourishes: Reflecting the influence of industrial design trends, metallic finishes take center stage this year. The interplay of metal-inspired elements adds a touch of modernity and sophistication to ceramic designs.

6.            Blues and Greens Dominate: Embracing the growing trend for greens and blues in kitchen and bathroom design, Cevisama becomes a vibrant canvas of color. Every corner reveals variations of these hues, adding a refreshing and contemporary touch to ceramic offerings.

In the ever-evolving world of ceramic excellence, Cevisama proves to be a beacon of innovation and inspiration, setting the tone for design trends that will shape interiors in the coming year.
